Its Not About The Box

One of the most counter-intuitive concepts we emphasize to our staff, interns and students is that this business of “people photography” is far less about photography than it is about people.  A visceral level of attunement and connection is where the real heavy lifting occurs..activating the shutter at the right time is usually the easy  part.  Our best work is usually the result of a collaborative and synergistic process among people than the high end camera rigs we bring to the party.

It is about a spontaneous moment in time that is impossible to plan but very possible to predictably enable.

Although we get many notes of thanks from clients, I don’t usually share testimonials.  Every so often though one comes along that transcends the very appreciated but usual “wow, the pictures are beautiful” or “we had a great time” and speaks to the heart of what the best photography companies in our business really do to create those beautiful pictures.   The thanks expressed in the note Im sharing below is directed at me but whats true is, it is a result of everyone on our team from our coordinators, who are always the first point of contact to our stylists and photography assistants who support this process as strategically and thoughtfully as I do.

Its great for all of us to kick off the year with one of these…

“Chris…

Everyone on the Newpoint team LOVED working with you.

Everyone has said that you made them feel great, spoke to their “Better Angels” (as one member waxed poetically), you made them comfortable, you made them feel professional and handsome and beautiful.

I really think that you were one of the highlights of the event. So much of what we do is sell Identity and experience. Everyone felt that you captured their Identity in their best light. When someone like you brings out and captures persona and lets them feel like themselves, gives them permission and approval to be their self, then you unleash in them an inner resource and actualization that they may have not experienced in a while. This is very empowering and affirming.

 Well done good Sir!

 Paul”
